Went to a very swanky restaurant yesterday, not my usual environment at all but got an invite so toddled along. A Michelin Star establishment no less . Largely wasted on me I suspect (I'm most at home with a kebab and a good slosh of chilli sauce ) but I got to try a few things I'd otherwise probably never experience, so that was nice. To be fair even my limited palate was taken on a wondrous journey for a couple of hours, and the presentation was art on a plate, so all credit to the chef. Best of all though, I didn't pay for any of it

I've just shelled my saved sweet peas. The seeds must represent a multitude of haphazard crosses between the two varieties I grew this year. Looking forward to seeing what grows from them next year

Sweet peas mostly come true to type. I grow a dozen or so varieties next to each other and as long as I am careful to check which plant the pod is coming from I can keep the varieties from year to year.

I also gave three bulbils to my Mum who has had 100% successful germination and I have another three leftover to sow myself (I was going to try new compost if they didn't come up on my first attempt).

Even happier one load of wood chip became two!!!!! And its all mine!!!!!!!!

What makes me happy is VC prompting me to shove my apathy aside for awhile and plant some seeds.
I have an 18in raised bed and a 12in pot so have sown a VERY small amount of .......................

Radish - French Breakfast
Mooli
Lambs Lettuce
Mustard - Green In The Snow.

I really don't care if they grow enough to produce anything as the experience with the electric saw and drill in readiness for the forthcoming winter was worth it's weight in gold.

C Mas pressies sorted.
As our kids earn more money than you know who I've decided that any money we spend needs to have a purpose.

Cue Hillside Animal Sanctuary. I've been donating to them every year and my elderly friend loves her hay bales and barra's of carrots every years so............................

This year the kids, inlaws and G kids are getting a combination of adoptions, hay, straw a carrots for C pressies.

Let the money actually do some good.
