Horse Manure!

I took some freshly picked up manure over the road today, to the chap who has a paddock. He said he would take it....he has a pile of about 2 tons! When it is rotted down he puts it in bags and leaves it outside the paddock gate. "Free to anyone who wants some, just help yourself" he said. I just LOVE country living.

Two winters ago I discovered a lady doing the same leaving bags out for free and just asking for the empty bags back. I knocked on the door and said could I bring my trailer to fill. She said to wait a few weeks as she gathered lots of fresh and then I went and loaded up. I composted it over winter and mixed in other organics as well as turning it a couple of times. Fabulous stuff. Some folks struggle to get rid of it fast enough because they have no space to store it, others have stored it and it's composted and ready to use.
