Is a shed that has a lock that isn't locked, locked or not?

And the title of the thread is 'Locking Sheds'. I have a shed, locked, but not on an allotment as I don't have one.

I built my own shed from pallets and recycled timber (see my thread on the build) and I incorporated a mortice lock and a hasp/padlock.
I have also installed a bleeper alarm that sounds when the door is opened. None of which will stop a professional thief. However inside is crammed and requires some removal of tatt to get at the stuff of any value.
I suspect frustration might result in a fire, but there is no knowing for sure.

I don't have a Lottie now, but when we did, nothing of value was ever kept in it...I just used to hook on an open padlock so from a distance it looked locked.

I didn't lock mine initially and although I left nothing of value I got fed up wandering the site every time I went down trying to find where my stuff had been moved to. Somebody obviously found it hilarious to swap things about. Got most things back but it wasted a lot of time I don't have so I added a cheap padlock. As somebody else said, it stops the jokers but will break without much farm if somebody really wants to get in.

I lock mine as we have a few tealeafs on our site but there is nothing of any value in the shed it's on the roof .my solar panels. Which no one bothers to think about.

We were advised by the Police and the Local Council who run the site, to leave nothing of value in the shed and not to lock it.

Technically I leave mine open, but I put a padlock on the bolt in such a way that, from a distance, it looks like it's been padlocked (I used to lock it but the padlock got rusty and it was just too much fuss).

Been doing that for 3 years and, touchwood, seems to do the trick.

I voted lock.
I don't lock any of mine but then they are in my garden. I don't lock the house when We go out either, and car key are kept in the ignition.
