Vanilla, with white chocolate and vanilla butter cream and raspberry jam, the top bit is lemon cake with lemon butter cream and lemon curd all covered in White chocolate ganach.

That sounds lovely for the more sophisticated palette, unfortunately I'm more a ...........

Actually it's just a posh version af jam and buttercream. The ganach holds the lot together. Stops the layers moving around and gives a firm base to cover with the icing, giving the final finish a cleaner look. If you cover the cake with buttercream the final iced layer looks bumpy and doesn't hold up as well.

BTW, you might be wondering why there is a bathroom suite in my kitchen - it is not an unusual living arrangement, it is on it's way to be listed on eb@y!

I have a very snotty nose - am wrapped up in a duvet on the sofa watching Spooks on netflix. *sniffs*.
Brandy toddies are wonderfully good for this, but I feel bad starting on them before sundown. (hot water, big slices of ginger, teaspoon of honey and a whacking great slug of brandy) I might just have to toddle out for some cake now...

Postie just brought me a whacking great parcel so I have some things to pore over on the sofa. And my friend's dropped round some French fancies. Not quite Scarlet's cake, but it's very welcome!

Another 3 large bags of leaves - 'nature's bounty' collected today I've built a wire mesh cage but it's already full and I have as much again to accommodate

Gordon Bennet it is somewhat chilly out. There are other words I could have used but it may have tempted VC to come out of retirement. .

Day's objectives achieved. Heated Bench now got my bank of 8 T5 tubes attached to a timeswitch and it is working <imagine Kermit the Frog with a yeah>. I've also blacked out the windows using some kingspan left over from the loft so that's insulated as well. I am frozen though. It is perishing out there.

Morning! Ooooh I'm first in today. I'll stick the kettle on.

Cold and wet out there again today. Wont make much difference to me though as I've got shedloads of indoor jobs to be getting on with.
