Had a brill evening out, a lovely end to a few days break from normality.

Back to bring Mrs Scrub today and need to crack on with my seed and plant swap which is less than 3 weeks away, and more worryingly , the first of the Xmas Fairs in 6 weeks!
Don't panic Mr Mainwairing!!!

So, loads to get on with on top of gardening and preserving.

Jay,cook apples,make crumble,the assemble as usual when fruit is cold,then freeze,what i do sometimes is,make a big batch of crumble mix and put it in the freezer,use as and when,it keeps lovely,by putting the mix onto a warm fruit,and freezing,the fruit will soak into the crumble mix and go a bit soggy,or,freeze the fruit mix,then add the crumble mix,it's down to choice and freezer room.
rearead your post,if the crumble is cooked first,it will be soggy when unfroze,as it will have extra moisture in it,i know from my doing just that,euck.

Morning bit dull out but the forecast says no rain so i'm believing them and got the washer full of towels.
Jay I cook crumbles first then I can microwave then for a quick pudding.

I freeze separately too lottie.
I do enough crumble mix for several crumbles and shake out as much as I need as and when.
It's great cos I can make a couple of individual ones at the last minute and if there is a small space available, pop them in the oven .
Then I don't feel I have to help out with eating left overs for the next couple of days. I love eating left overs, but it doesn't help with the old dieting does it

Thanks all I made a dash to our local supermarket that has a pharmacy..they sold the drops I managed to get him to school with minutes to spare for his first lesson...he just missed registration.

Good morning Folks, wet here at present, just back from holiday so have to go shopping, well I suppose I cold let my wife go out with our daughter to do the shopping, but it could finish up too costly. No matter we had a good holiday and now back to normal, Scarlet when I was a bit younger and before all the modern remedies came on the market any problems with eyes were treated with a wash of saltwater as Jay has said then bathed with cold tea, this was a general method for eye care from infection to weld flashes. I am not saying you should use this method, always go to a doctor or pharmacist for advice but it is a good standby in emergency

So ladies, I should cook apples and cool then freeze in trays but make crumble mix, not cook it and then freeze separately...will it not stick together in clumps?

That's correct Jay! I also make pastry, cook the apple, make the pies/tarts then freeze before cooking.

Top up my cup please Deano bramble, my first wash load is in the wash...two hours late! Tis blowing lovely out there.

Rary, you have been missed I hope you enjoyed your hols but it's good to have you back!

Aft'noon

Yesterday was a greenhouse clearing and cleaning day - it's totally empty and shiny now. Builder chappie is here starting on the base for my soon-to-be potting shed today.

Amazing how many of my (girl) friends think me nuts that I'm getting excited at the arrival of brand new, shiny potting shed, yet have no passion for heels/bags/jewels. Am I odd? Rhetoric.

Busy Monday done thankfully...
Quiet weekend was had by me..Didn't do much except for a nice 77k spin on the bike yesterday..
I had to choose my route carefully as it was very windy here

Afternoon Folks, torrential rain here this afternoon, hope it has moved away now, I am going out to the greenhouse later so going to nip out and put a fire on, I need to get some plants put away for the winter and was hoping that my begonias would have been nipped with frost by now, but they are still growing and flowering away, no matter I will still go out to the greenhouse, better than watching telly even if it's just to watch the rain running down the glass. Just back from having a holiday and one thing I did note, we are all the same no matter where we come from or what language we speak, the women are telling the men what to do and us men are standing with a resigned look on our faces, who needs to understand the language "don't eat that it won't be good for you"or "try that to see if I would like it" yes definitely all the same, and yes I had a good holiday, but I think that it will be the last one going abroad, but we will see. Well I might see you later, am just wondering if I should remind my wife that there is no waiter service here--- then maybe not, I want fed
