The 2016 Perseid meteor shower

Nicos - only time I have ever seen them was whilst hill walking in Wester Ross - friend and I left Dundonnel Hotel at closing time and drove to the car park for a long walk into the bothy after midnight on a brilliant night and we were treated to a shower of shooting stars during the walk in. Never seen even one since

Nothing as spectacular as I was expecting though...will look again if I happen to wake up again in the next 3 hrs.

I've just seen one then I heard a noise,it reminded me of the horror film I watched last night so i just came in & locked the door.

Saw about 6, but not the numbers that are often talked about, equally never seen anything even near the numbers that are talked about. Perseids get talked of as 100 per hour.

Technically the best time is after midnight (GMT) so that is 01:00 at present. That is when we are facing into the Swift-Tuttle debris that is the source of them. Before that the rest of the planet we are sat on gets in the way.

We've had mist several night on the run now

They should still be visible for a few more nights...so here's hoping!
