Well done for trying, it's a big ask to get one that young to survive. But at least you gave it the best chance.
I've brought up one from 10 days old, it's a great thing to do. He stayed with us for 19 1/2 years.

Oooh those two-hourly feeds are a killer - I once had a litter of week-old kittens to look after and it was exhausting but they became lovely, healthy babies and went to fabulous homes at 8 weeks old.

As others have said, at least this wee babe had warmth, love and food in his tummy in his final hours. Poor wee mite - it just breaks my heart the callous way the human race treats animals Thank heavens there are angels like you to look out for them (((BIG HUGS)))

Well done Lisa- for doing your utmost for that poor, innocent little kitten.

Always sat to lose a newborn- but worse in those situations.

And yup- you need to drown the newly born

I think it is nicer to at least drown them rather than letting them suffer for up to 48 hours in a plastic bl@@dy bag in the blistering heat starving and dehydrating, i think it is cowardly.
One of my Spanish friends cat (used for killing mice and rats) had kittens and his wife just smashes them over the head. I do not know how they can possible do it.

I must say though it is very hard work but very very rewarding my gorgeous boys came out of a trash bin and i hand raised them from a couple of days old and you def have a mummy connection with them that i would not change for anything.

Just look at that faces, how could you put it into a bin.

Sorry that people can be so cruel,
Sorry for the poor kitten,
and sorry that being a kind and generous person has led to you feeling sad.

I do hope that the kitten fell asleep as kittens do when they have full tummies, warmth and comfort then simply didn't wake up. Its surely the best way to go and so very far removed from cold, hungry and alone in a feed bag.

That has broken my heart Lisa...thank you on behalf of that wee mite, you are worth a million of the thing which dumped him! As the others said at least he had a full tummy and a lot of love when he went to sleep. Thank goodness for people like you.

The cruelty of the human race never fails to horrify me. I once saw two men putting a litter of puppies down a drain in the middle of nowhere. I was on my own and too scared to confront them so went and phoned the police who turned up several hours later and said they couldn't find any evidence, surprise, surprise.

I rescued a kitten many years ago and she was with us for about 18 months. Her name was Chippy. I'm not really a cat person but I loved this one. She had a strange habit of carrying her tail straight upwards with just the tip bent over like a little flag. Unfortunately she was hit by a car but at least she had some sort of a life first.

So sad, thank you for trying your best with the little one, at least he was warm and safe with you. I hate to think about dogs and cats being killed needlessly but you're right a quick death would be better than being abandoned to die. Would rather people were educated to neuter though, there is enough research on the benefits, but while people don't see animals as thinking and feeling it probably won't make a difference

Locally we have a lot of people living very close to the breadline.
Any spare cash certainly wouldn't be 'wasted' on neutering a cat.
They are there to catch mice and live outdoors and maybe feed from time to time.
And certainly not vaccinate!
My neighbour's are astounded that we even bothered taking Hibou to the vets when she was hit by the tractor...never mind pay over � 300 for a scan of her head!
Apparently , the norm would have been to drown her and replace her

Tis no wonder they are astounded that she is such a sweet, friendly , approachable cat!

But I digress....Lisa, you do a fab job with these little 'uns.
( I wonder if peeps locally realise this and they are left where you might come accross them?)
