Morning all, wet day here, quite a bit of rain overnight
Opened the back door to a heap of oleander flowers on the floor, a white carpet
Taking the GG back later this morning, got a feeling she will be back within a day. Daughter has health appointments, so we will be the sitters I'm sure.
Pleased to say that the bean and tomato glut is under control for the moment, potatoes are another matter......
Sown more watercress seeds and crossed my fingers

Take him to McDonald's, if he likes it tell him that you can't afford to do this again, if he didn't like it, tell that you will have to have to take him there regularly you couldn't cook for him all the time, oh and give him a list of things he needs to do daily, every second day and weekly, if he still wants to stay sit back and enjoy his company.

Cook? Please don't use 4 letter words in my presence However I value your advice should the dreams/nightmares I have been describing ever develop into real life - he is only here because his parents took the young ones to Beamish overnight and will go back home when he gets up.

Sorry too to learn that your Dad is in hospital, CG. I hope he gets better soon and I shall be thinking of you as well today.

Well it's a wet one today. I think I shall run through my seeds and see what I might be sowing this month. Good day for planning I guess. Hopefully it will be much nicer tomorrow.

Morning all,

Thinking of you SP, hope the day is not too trying for you. Also hope that your dad gets well soon CG!

It's sun shiney today but rain is on its way! Ironing to get done, may go shopping later or wait until tomorrow I will see how the day goes. Really don't like shopping during school holidays in fact I'm not really a shopper, in fact I hate shopping and only do it when absolutely necessary.

Anyhoo, off for a cuppa if anyone wants to join me! Have a great day everyone and enjoy lunch Shen!

Shen, it was on the Arran hills where I received a lesson about education, while sitting at the top of Goat Fell having a cup of tea, a young French couple reached the summit, as it was a very warm day and they had no food or drink with them they were suffering a bit, and as I always carried a 3lt. flask with me I had plenty to spare, so I gave both of them a cup of tea with sugar, they declined anything to eat. Now here is the lesson for any youngsters still at school, I was never taught French at school, it is most important that you should learn an other language especially French, as being unable to converse with them I couldn't charge them for the tea not only that they through the tea bags away instead of leaving them out to dry so that they could be used again

The above did happen, but I would never charge for any assistance given on the hills, anyway they helped me, it made my bag lighter, for there is no way I would empty my flask as it would save me boiling the kettle when I got home

I have to say - you have got this down to a fine art - however re-using tea bags or, more particularly tea can result in a foul concoction - I remember many, many years ago at work my colleague accidentally poured the contents of the tea caddy into the teapot and then dried it out on the courtier stove before serving it up as burnt tea - no amount of milk and sugar could make it palatable - we drunk water for a week before the tea fund was able to fund a new packet of tea - no tea bags in those days

Incidentally, I thin that this experience is why I now like milky tea and coffee.

I have given out water on the hills but my tea flask was never large enough for any more than 2 cups and I now find I share it more on the allotment than I ever did on the hills :-)

I took my daughter Susan hill walking when she was in her teens along with her best pal. I aalso took them to Aberfoyle for climbing and abseiling when I was training to lead a climb of the Innpin on the Skye ridge. This pic is of them abseiling on the wall at Aberfoyle. :-)

Did they enjoy it - that grin says it all :-)

Good evening Folks, it was dry here for a time today, but now have heavy rain, which started about 5.30, it was not a good day for drying, or so I was told, have been at my daughters today as she is getting a new carpet laid tomorrow, so furniture to be moved and tea to be drank, then more moving then coffee, so had quite a busy day. I also went out shopping and bought a bulb planter at the cost of 79p I am just thinking if I had went round some charity shops I may have got one cheaper, a well to late now. Well I wish you all a good night, I am goong to go and watch the telly as the rain is getting even heavier, just thinking if I do find a bulb planter cheaper I could take the one I bought back, now what did I do with the receipt. Goodnight

Evening all. Been a madhouse here today, what with fighting teenagers, builders and bathroom fitters, so retired to the lotty for the day.
The previously mentioned copper bath has arrived though and bathroom fitters tried getting it into the bathroom to check final position - despite everything being supposedly thoroughly measured, it didn't fit through the bathroom door!
Joiner quickly called to remove the door casing - still didn't fit, so part of wall removed!
I have to say it is a lovely bath, but if I'd had my way, we'd have had a whirlpool jobby & it would've been a tiny fraction of the price!
