Our older cats often stopped eating in hot weather, Hazel. Here's hoping it's something that simple.

Still no rain. Properly watering the plot takes more than a dozen full watering cans-worth. The tap is 50 yards away.... Grumpy!

On the ungrumpy side everything is looking fab. And I got the brassica tunnel up. Quite chuffed, really.

2yo trod on a runner bean. "Eeeek! Mind my poor beans, darling!" He's looks down, backs away carefully and says, "sowee 'ummy! " Considering he only met me 2 months ish ago, and hadn't had any gardening exposure before then, boy's been paying attention! :heart:

Evening Hazel....unusual for us to meet up this side of midnight!

Yup - difference I suspect is that I have a reasonable expectation of kip until 7:30 or so (breaks in which Domino cat will require supper to 'mess about with' at 1:30, 2:45 and 4:30am.

I'm hoping that the lovely Hibou is lovin' you too along those lines - maybe <i>sans</i> rodents - of course all my thoughts and love go to her, to continue to recover to the best that she can be.

Morning all. Thought I would pop in and say morning while everyone in the house was asleep but by the sounds of it the kids are getting up. Boom goes the peace and quiet.
Seems to of had quite a bit of rain last night. Can see out of the back window and the ground seems very wet still.
Don't know what plan of action is today. Will see what its like when kids have gone to school.
Kettle is on if anyone wants a cuppa but you might need to bring some milk as I'm running out.

Morning NVG, Morning All. A little later than usual this morning - for some inexplicable reason the Wi-Fi is unobtainable when we've unplugged the TV the night before. Strange, but true. Himself is a technophobe, so I'll have to figure out what is happening. Suppose it could be the connection to the telly box? Anyway - it's stiflingly hot here. Gardener is due at 9.00 (gosh that sounds posh). We have to pay to have the grass cut as my son's shoulder is still troubling him a bit and I don't want him to suffer further injury.
We could do with some rain

Morning all
Midgies are a little hungry this morning. About to take some antihistamines, before all the itchy hot lumps on my hands all join up and make it look like I'm wearing boxing gloves! Then it's a house work and cooking day. Friends are coming back tomorrow after a couple of days up in Dundee.

Another hayfever morning for me

We had a lovely end to the evening yesterday...glass in hand ( water) we wandered around our Estate perimeter.( read field - we ARE doing posh this morning aren't we Flo?)
Sat down part way and just listened to the birds/ crickets/ hens/cows/donkey/ church bells.
Not one human sound.
Very peaceful
We sat watching a Song Thrush bashing snails on a stone...never seen that before!

All whilst the sun was setting- lovely end to the day!

( yup , we finally had a bit of sunshine yesterday!)

And so...another day starts- let's hope it's another gud'un for everyone!

We didn't get the predicted thunderstorms/rain here .... So much for my strategically placed buckets to catch the rain water..!! Not complaining, of course.

Sun is out and it's sooo warm here already! Poor Toby dog is suffering a bit!

Glad you finally got your sunshine, Nicos Yay.

It's getting rather humid here. 3rd hot day on trot. I do like some sunshine but yesterday hit about 27 and that is just too hot for gardening. I hope it is not quite so hot today but I fear it might as it was 16 through the night.

Ha, never satisfied on the weather front - either too hot, too cold, too windy, rainy .... Anyway will just sit ans sweat while I do my vine rounds with a cuppa. I will do the milk today NVG

where did those last few days go? We are still getting the good weather but slightly more muggy here now..Had a great and busy Bank Holiday weekend which included our horse winning its race on Sunday; so there was much excitement
Monday was spent entertaining the kids and yesterday was busy with work..

Daughter starts her state exams this morning and has plenty of work done, so here's hoping she doesn't panic and does her best. We are not putting any pressure on her, seems to just get panicky herself, so just trying to keep her relaxed....

Morning, From a bleary eyed person.

Was up half the night worrying about the dog, did think it might have been a vet situation at one point but thankfully he's ok.

He just cannot handle the heat. He was panting frantically and refused to drink. His temp was 39.9 which is high and his breathing rate was twice what it should have been. I put him in a tepid bath late last night to try to cool him down and that helped a bit.

He wasn't even in the sun much yesterday, he was inside most of the day. Anyway he's back to normal now but I'm going to be half asleep all day as a result.

Our weather has changed now so it should be cooler over the next few days.

Well it's overcast here someone answered my prayers it was just unbearable yesterday. It's still going to be warm but we have a breeze.

My boys went off to school this morning to sit their last AS maths exam - Stats. Both of them worked solidly together for a change on the weekend. The visit to the uni open day spurred them on though they aren't entirely sure what they want to do!
Any Mums with kids that go off to uni? Is it true that you have empty nest syndrome? Cos, I really can't believe it! I can't wait for the pair to pack their bags and give me a break

Girls are great with revision...boys are very different. You'll be pulling your hair out! fingers crossed she does well.
