Thread protocols ?

Can I ask a silly question please. Often when I'm reading a post on a particular thread, I find I have a related question to ask. Should I open a new thread or can I ask it on the same thread. For example I have just read the posts about rhubarb and I have a question I would like to ask about rhubarb. Should I start a new thread or can I ask it on the same one. Thanks. Sorry if this is a silly question.

It's up to you Bal, you can either ask on the thread or start a new thread. I don't think it matter that much.

Another reason this site is so great! No one is made to feel like they've done something wrong or intruded where they're not wanted.

Ask away, Bal. If one of us "fab mods" thinks it deserves a thread of its own, we'll move it into one.
With the Like button it usually appears if you refresh the page

I often find the Like button is missing - then realise its one of my posts. For some strange reason you can't like your own posts! Doesn't seem right to me

Oh dear, I am often so rude, as I just 'jump in', and ask mine on same thread! Don't mean to be!

I think the main reason for starting a new thread is that when you use our most excellent search facility ( ) it picks up the subject matter more easily ( as would you if you are hunting back through historical threads)

For example- if you say 'ooooops' for the title then nothing is recognised...if you say 'are my seedlings frosted / overwatered' then it's much easier to find. In effect it probably is better to start a new thread unless it is exactly the same thing or very closely related, it's better not to piggyback on someone else's thread.
