Sorry but nothing like pernod. Absinthe has wormwood in it and can cause hallucinations. Supposedly it's what Van Gough was drinking when he lopped his ear off. It is wicked stuff

The old Pernod wasn't but they have returned to using the ingredients that they did in the 1800's, calling it Pernod Absinthe? Is that not the same Kitty?

it is the strongest stuff you can get going above 75%, you smell the stuff and it would knock you off your feet. We used to have it in the bar but would not sell it by the shot as it is nasty. just a dash in a cocktail

Ooh, not sure Jay. Didn't know pernod had wormwood in it, I don't like that though, a bit too sweet.

I can�t handle my spirits and liquors one bit, ok maybe a baileys. A cocktail is nice now and again but i like to have a drink and do not want to feel peed within 30 mins, wine and beer please

Pernod is the same aniseed type thing but at the low end at only 40% like vodka and whisky, it is a different thing really. i guess how you can get your cider at 4% and it goes above 10% maybe a lot more

The only place local where I lived that sold it limited you to 3 shots. I can see why.

Well when i worked in Italians we used to do sambuca shot with 3 coffee beans on top.

and then light it, but have seen that gone terribly wrong as well, lets say you have to blow it out first and not have a beard!!

I have a wormwood shrub at the lottie,now,would it be a tea from the stems,leaves or the flowers if it bursts into life this year

just looked on the seed pkt,it's other name is,artemesia absinthium,the seeds are like dust.

Not sure what bit you would use Lottie. Never thought of growing it really and don't know what it looks like. Off for a browse
