I've set a reminder for the programme. Just can't believe how much is thrown away. We have become such a wasteful society. There are so many people without and so much is being thrown away. The supermarkets have so much buying power and do as they like.

It really beggars belief. No wonder farmers struggle so much

No wonder I have problems finding biggish parsnips in the shops. I prefer them as I then don't have burnt pointy ends.

When I was married to a farmer he used to buy the reject veggies for fodder for the cows.

What have you joined? Is there something you have signed up for?

I've signed. What amazes me is the figures banded about for waste created by "the average household". To offset those of us who waste virtually nothing just how much must some folk throw away in order to get the average back up. They must have more money than sense.
I also think supermarket buying policy is a disgrace. A friend of mine drives a lorry for one of the big four and the volumes of post shelf life food he has to take for disposal is staggering.

Can you point m towards the gleaning links, can't find anything on the web links or Facebook (don't do Twitter).

Done a bit more searching and unfortunately a lot of the local gleaning stuff seems to be on Twitter which is just too confusing for me. Didn't even understand most of the posts . Seems there's a general page on Facebook which I've liked but it does seem a bit muddled (that could be me though) so hopefully it'll get more coordinated as more people get involved.
