A bit of a dilema

I'm now in my third season in my new plot and despite having been on my previous one for almost 20 years I have absolutely no regrets. Sounds like you have decided to move and I hope your move is as much a success as mine has been.

3 Years...........Where does time go?.............I remember when you was first having issues.

hmm, you can turn the current allotment into fruit orchard by keeping existing stuff as it is and keep it strimming add more fruit trees etc. then move on to new site for other stuff?

my neighbour lottie owner does it..he actually owned a fully developed fruit orchard and for the last one year he had been just strimming whenever it is over grown. so I happened to see him just 2 times.

Afraid not. Around here they have a fruit to vegetable ratio. Plus it would mean splitting myself between two plots. Plus you are not allowed to grow any fruit producing plant that wont produce fruit within 12 months. So not meant to have fruit trees planted at sites.

NVG from the picture you have painted of this plot I'm tempted to move in myself. I dithered over my move for ages and finally took the plunge 3 years ago and never looked back or regretted it. My advice would be go for it.

I was on our waiting list for more than 2 years and finally got an allotment. I looked after it for 5 years and was persecuted by the woman who runs them for all of that time. I never found out what her problem with me was. I was looking after a sick friend for 6 weeks and was unable to go to the plot very often although I did nip round and water things at about 6am (I had to climb over the gate to do it).

I went round to restart cultivation and found someone else digging. Her excuse was that it wasn't in cultivation. Strange since there were spuds, carrots, leeks, brassicas and various fruits growing there. I decided to give up as it was no longer pleasant to go there.

When my new kitchen is up I will concentrate on my garden without the fight to hold on to it.

NVG, gardening should be a pleasure not a hassle. Go where people are nicer and there aren't so many stupid rules.
