Our shower of rain & hail!

Thought you might like to see what REAL rain and hail looks like! Needless to say that the hailbergs are still sitting on veggie garden this morning. Shredded cabbage plants, squashed and mashed butternut squashes and broccoli blown over Also there is one hell of a mess of the wires that were supporting the shade netting over the garden. I am going to be seriously busy today. We have also lost a great deal of olives and almonds that were knocked out of the trees by the wind, rain and hail.

I know you were desperate for rain....but not that.

On a serious note though, good luck with the clear up...hope you manage to rescue most of your crops!

Thanks guys/gals. Butternuts are peppered with holes from the hail, some fence posts are at awkward angles because of the weight of the hail that landed on top of the netting. Sweet peppers and aubergines are also looking a bit battered and bruised. Hubby is rescuing almonds that got knocked out of the trees - the harvest wasn't due to start for at least another 3 - 4 weeks And tons of olives are all over the ground - we cannot save those. At least I have cleaned the floors in the house so that looks a bit better. Had better get on with nursing the kitchen garden and flower beds back to some form of normality and tidiness.

Very disappointing after all your hard work. Hope you manage to salvage something. It is surprising how things will recover although sadly not the squash aubergines etc. perhaps a huge Ratatouille is in order then at least you can freeze it

Have you seen the weather warnings in the uk for Thursday & Friday?

Looks like we might get it too,heavy rain,thunder & hail is mentioned?

Bloody hell, sorry for your loss, its sad when this happens after the hard work we put in.

Got storms forecast Saturday and Sunday after no rain for 3 weeks, we need the rain but Im concerned about stuff like this, last time we had hail in early summer the tomatillos, broccoli, hokkaidos/courgettes took a pounding and took time to recover. Might stand out in the hail with a big plastic sheet and a helmet.

well we had a slight mud slide also from our neighbour's land onto our driveway. Most of this ended up in the top of our 2 storey garage! 3-4 inches of muddy water. Hubby cannot get the land machinery (tractor trailer, giant shredder, sprayer etc.,) out from underneath the garage as it is so wet and muddy. We have more bad weather forecast for Saturday. I shall be in the UK for some rain as from 28th August! LOL!
