Experience counts, BM. You just haven't dunked enough to be able to accurately calculate dunking time, a complicated equation based on tea/coffee temperature, percentage milk, sugar to liquid ratio, biscuit thickness, biscuit variety, and biscuit crispness (whether dunked direct from the packet, H/M, or after x number of days in the biscuit tin).

Once you have mastered these factors you will have dunking perfection.

And yes, ninety eight percent of rich tea biscuits contain a hairline crack. Beginners should practice with ginger nuts.

I give my biscuits a very quick in out dip rather than dunking them because I hate having to fish them out with a spoon.

I was going to say didn't some scientist spent a large amount of money and time on how to dunk properly and what was the best biscuit?

Firstly r!ch t€a are the best for dunking, And my theory is, if it breaks after two dunks, your drink is too hot!

After reading the last few threads it occurs to me that...
the nation is secretly obsessed with dunking
huge amounts of money is spent on scientific analysis
there is a national divide between rich teas and hobnob type biscuits - does it depend on social class or birth place I wonder?
chocolate is good for some things
people have strange reasons for buying incontinance pads
                      and finally.....
is this an issue the election could be won or lost on?

Some of the ones I don't dunk...

                        Garibaldi
                        Bourbon
                        jammy dodgers
                        fig biscuits
I'm sure there are plenty of others???

( just don't 'improve' with dunking in my opinion!)

Arrowroot and rich tea need skill

                        Personally, I'm a...
                        ginger biscuit
                        Cream custard
                        digestive
                        hobnob

                        dunker - kind of gal!

Bite of biscuit and sip of tea.
No disgusting mush in the bottom of the cup.

I really only dunk ginger nuts.

But I do like to do that thing with Tim Tams where you bite off diagonally opposite corners and suck your tea through it as if it were a drinking straw. The whole biscuit turns into a lovely warm syrupy thing that you can eat in a single huge mouthful of deliciousness.

I just discovered that this has a name: The Tim Tam Slam.

Wot's it got to do with class ? Personally, I think it's a disgusting habit, but each to their own. I like my bisquits crisp and undunked.

No one has mentioned the standing time. Like leaving meat to stand before carving. So in dunking terms taking the biscuit out and leave ?secs. also while maneuvering the perfect standing angle before shoving in ya gob

I love how some people have issues with dunking (in a good way) and it gets put in the realms of picking ya nose, farting in public and other things.
