unless its been posted , Aldi (not me ) are selling 12 different fruit trees inc cherries,apples,pears,plums for �3.99p each on thursday the 5th only couple of days to make up your mind

Im telling everyone so then I won.t have to buy them all , just after one Kordia cherry
or maybe an apple too, no just a cherry

Do you know, sometimes I'm a bit dim. I have bought fruit trees with what can only be classed as gay abandon! I have never wondered about pollination or how big they are going to grow good grief. In a few years from now I will be like David Bellamy climbing through the undergrowth of enormous trees in a jungle which used to be my garden. What is wrong with me? Why didn't these great reasons for you lot buying trees never occur to me?! God (other deities are available) help me!

I have never wondered about pollination

If there are other suitable fruit trees about, or Crab Apples (in the case of Apples) the bees will manage and varieties which are self-fertile will also "manage" (it is said that even they pollinate better, and yield better fruit, if cross pollinated)

got an answer -

Apples, – These will be budded onto a “M9 Dwarf” rootstock, which will fruit earlier.

Cherry, – These are budded on to “Colt” rootstock which has uniformed growth pattern, it is semi vigorous and will not grow too large.

Pear, – These are budded on to a “Quince A” rootstock which is a virus free example.

Plums, – Will be budded onto a “St Julian A” root stock or a “Myrobolane” root stock these are virus free and semi vigorous growing.

I don't think so. I was expecting the apples to be on MM106 so I wouldn't be tempted to buy them, DOH!

Our 5 year old Aldi Victoria plum is 2 meters tall (planted in lawn) and produced 30kgs of lovely plums last year. The plums were blue /purple but NOT Victoria!!!

Tasty though and only �4 so not complaining.

nothing , just prefer m26 bit taller and a bit stronger if you have the room, the smaller the tree the more looking after it needs because it has a smaller root system
