Daps = plimsolls/trainers. When I were a lass the railway workers went on holiday in Trip Fortnight in July and were renowned for having their daps round their necks with the laces tied together and a knotted handkerchief on their heads.Originally posted by Hazel at the Hill View PostSorry, Janie, I have no idea what VC is talking about; but then that's not an usual state of play for me.

Sorry, Janie, I have no idea what VC is talking about; but then that's not an usual state of play for me.
We're going for a warm up on the cross trainer, then a go on the rower, then an interval session on the treadmill. Hope the treadmill session is better than on Monday, when I wasn't paying attention and pulled the 'emergency stop cord' by mistake. Nearly shot straight off the front of the machine and sailed out the window...

Of course I'm up for a virtual gym session, Hazel. What we doing, weights, bike, treadmill?
I'll find my daps

Well played, Snadge! Yay! Running in the dark is difficult as you get no rhythm going - we have lots of roads with paving slabs and established trees, so it's quite tricky underfoot here too.Originally posted by Snadger View PostFunny how the same run I did on a bright Sunday afternoon, looked and felt completely different on a dark wintry evening.
Because the council are cash strapped they are switching the street lights off making it very precarious and spooky for runners. Didn't come across any other runners, and i can see why!
.
Just goes to show you how unlit country paths with the odd car with there main beams on can ruin your pace and your running times.
I'm up to the gym for a lunchtime session tomorrow - you up to it? VC?

Sounds delightful. Snadger, I'm looking forward to it. A nice crisp day, should put a spring in our steps
I'm sure I can manage 10k, if you can, I can

Daylight run along part of the 'Coast to coast' cycle path.Originally posted by veggiechicken View PostIt was delicious Snadge - and the Bakewells afterwards. I don't like running in the dark though - Dayglo clothing doesn't look good with my complexion.
Are we doing a daylight run at the weekend. You're doing so well I think we could go for 10k
Hopefully speckled light and shade with sunlight glistening on the frost.
Do you not think we might be running before we're walking tackling a 10k Veggie? Do you think the couch would take it?
I suppose the weather will dictate, if its a nice sunny day, and the Ibrufen are doing a particular good job of warming my muscles we might go for it!

Hope you enjoyed your cyber jam sarnie Veggie, while i was out there again dodging muck and bullets!

Had two small cherry bakewells for a warm up treat along with a small glass of 'Adams Ale'
Took me 48 minutes to cover the same course but found it easier and it felt quicker. Just goes to show you how unlit country paths with the odd car with there main beams on can ruin your pace and your running times.
No more tatties, only turnip or sweet potatoes and I'm gunna try and cut down on bread!
Looking forward to my offroad venture at the weekend and I may even try for 10K!

Has anyone seen the This Girl Can ad on the tv? Real (wobbly!) women doing exercise because it feels good.
Just brilliant - I hope the campaign inspires anyone who says 'ooh - I couldn't do that!' to actually get off their lardy botties and see that - actually - you can!

What time is the run tomorrow Snadge? Need to make my jam sandwich ready. Gonna skip the brufen though as I don't think I'll ache much.Originally posted by Snadger View PostBit achy today but I shall have a jam sandwich with a couple of Ibruproven in it on Wednesday half an hour before my run (bread for carbs long term and jam for immediate energy!).
Looking forward to next Sunday when I can go off road again along a pleasant wooded track!

He's pushing you 5K on a couch!Originally posted by sparrow100 View PostAm also a reluctant runner Snadge. Once my lungs are less wheezy OH is taking me out as my personal trainer for a Couch-5k programme. I am more than a little apprehensive about this.
I'm impressed!
