Fair point there Doctor, but I get the same reaction with plums and strawbs grown here - did experiment once or twice to see if it had gotten better. Maybe time to try again

Shirl - it's interesting you can eat strawberry jam. I suppose the protein responsible is killed by the heat. I'll try my homemade from last year and see.
Haven't had any plums this year.
