Unused kitchen gadgets

This thread is giving me itchy fingers - I've never seen such a display of conspicuous consumption! Good job I am not at any of your houses or all those poor unloved gadgets would be long gone to the charity shop.

Actually, that's a challenge for you all to get rid of some stuff - donate one item to the charity shop by the weekend!

Except Mikey, who has to donate 5 things. And a dishwasher.

I've got rid of a gadget as instructed. Didn't take it to a charity shop though as I wasn't sure if it was saleable.
My kitchen is must less cluttered now - you'd be proud of me

We have too many pans. There are only two of us and we have big pans, small pans, frying pans of various sizes, crepe pans, an egg frying pan that doubles as a lid for a pan we no longer have. The list goes on. There is a mandolin that scares the bejeezus out of me, a pasta maker, an electric tin opener and a juicer that don't get used. The Kenwood, plug in steamer and bread machine get most use out of actual gadgets.
We did have a slow cooker but OITC said it made food taste funny so it got binned - the inside ceramic pot got kept and is used to make saurkraut.

Is there a saving on electricity as you're only ever boiling the amount you need?

Their marketing info says so, and it also says that if you don't use it at all the "standby cost", to keep the vacuum of water hot & ready, is 3p / day.

When we were contemplating one I saw some comparison costs, probably on their website, comparing a kettle somewhat overfilled each time, and the Quooker. We used to boil a kettle for a cuppa probably 20 times a day (several people here). Others would stand and wait (that has a cost associated of course) - i.e. office worker goes to kitchen, puts kettle on, waits, makes tea/coffee. I was far worse, in a sense, as I would go to kitchen, put kettle on, go back to office, FORGET to return to kitchen for half an hour ... then REBOIL kettle! So for ME the saving is probably huge!

There is a Configurator on their website that lets you choose tap type etc. and gives you a price. Trouble is you need to understand a bit about the various options to get a useful price and for anyone in a hurry I doubt they would have time to check what each of the options actually is.

Looks like around �1,000, plus another �250 if you are in a hard water area. I guess that would be "'spensive" for most other folks too If it saves �0.68 a day it will pay back in 5 years. Apart from possible electricity saving, for anyone being paid 68p is not very long standing around time - assuming �10 per hour its 4 minutes per day time gained. Probably the time to boil just one kettle. Yeah, I thikn that would do it for justification!

The only justification I needed was it was a gadget, I didn't have one so definitely needed it!!!

I use this policy with my other gadgets too, some aren't as useful as others!!!

I'm the total opposite to this, start off with a why on earth anybody would want that when there is a perfectly good way of doing it already. May look into it if lots of people are talking about it but probably stay at the not needed point. If I'm interested I'll then think about it for a few months / years and then only if I still think it's worth while and will get used will I actually buy. If I've nowhere to put a gadget and it'll end up in the back of a cupboard I know I'll not be bothered to get it out but if (like my bread maker) it can sit on the work surface and is used about 3 times per week then it'll get through my choice criteria. I gave enough clutter already, don't want anymore

We do have quite a large garage but it seems to be full of bikes......

Over the years I've whittled my gadgets down to a yoghurt maker and those attachments that I use with my Kenwood Chef everything else has gone to the charity shop.
Now if I could do the same with my pans/skillets I'd be happy and have a lot more cupboard space.

I love my Kenwood Chef. I had to replace all the gadgets when mine disappeared in a house move. It doesn't get used very often nowadays as I live on my own, but it comes into it's own when the family are around and when fruit and vegetables need processing in the summer and autumn. AND when I'm making hedgerow wine.

I wish the ice cream maker was in the freezer.
Son appears to have eaten he ice cream and filled the container with water.

Have just discovered this as I was getting ready to have ice cream with boozy fruits.
