, and I'm the 3rd.
One for everyday items and the second for pots and pans and overflow after parties. We rarely have a party.

Well, as the only dishwasher in the house anyway

I think what you mean is you're reliable, well used and not yet prone to leakage!!. If you were to breakdown however Mrs B would soon find a substitute model, one which perhaps has a few extra features like glass care (no good using hulking great paws on delicate stem glasses), or quick wash. When you get to a certain age quick anything is a matter of perspective.Originally posted by bearded bloke View PostI'm indispensable

That's easy VC, it'll be the one you've not been in for a while. It's very difficult finding them these days, they are very much like the original traditional models, they like to hide in the undergrowth.Originally posted by veggiechicken View PostI have a dishwasher somewhere behind a cupboard door. This thread is giving me itchy fingers - I've never seen such a display of conspicuous consumption!
Good job I am not at any of your houses or all those poor unloved gadgets would be long gone to the charity shop.
Actually, that's a challenge for you all to get rid of some stuff - donate one item to the charity shop by the weekend!
Except Mikey, who has to donate 5 things. And a dishwasher.

As for Dishwashers - that's a very sore subject. We have a perfectly good one in the shed (well, one of the ruddy sheds lol). Our minuscule kitchen only has room for either a Washing Machine or a Dishwasher. Over the last three years, I have often wondered if the Dishwasher would also do clothes...
We don't have a lot of unused tools, as I 'lost' a lot of them when we moved here. I may 'find' them again if we ever manage to move out again.

Now you know EXACTLY what would happen - you take one item in and bring 5 items out.Originally posted by Hazel at the Hill View Post

My mum used to use her antique silver sugar tongs early in the mornings, not for her cuppa but for collecting slugs in her organic veg garden. She used to drop them into a bucket of salted water!
Yuck! Another habit I haven't followed! The best things in life are not things.

We have two dishwashers too. When the kitchen was redone it "had" to have a dishwasher with a fake cupboard door. The old one went into the utility room for pots & pans and party overspill. Unlike you Mikey we do like to have parties!! so both ours do get used. But I have heard of people with two who operate them as the crockery / cutlery drawer! Fill one, turn it on, lay the table from the contents and any dirties go into the second one ... by the time that needs to be turned on the first one is empty againOriginally posted by Mikey View PostI have 2 dishwashers ... I'm not a fan of the fake-cupboard-door type; no way of knowing if it is on, or not, or how long it has left to run ... Progress?!!Last edited by Kristen; 14-01-2015, 02:45 PM.K's Garden blog the story of the creation of our garden

Sorry to say Kristen you've got the wrong model, they do make them with either a little light that shines onto the floor to let you know they are on, or project a led time onto the floor to tell you how long left. It tends to be when they are in the drying cycle you are most likely to open when still on as they are so quiet these days.Originally posted by Kristen View PostI'm not a fan of the fake-cupboard-door type; no way of knowing if it is on, or not, or how long it has left to run ... The fancy models have a water sensor that reduces the programme time after the first rinse dependant on how dirty the dishes are.
Kitchen appliances are one subject I could bore you to death with!!!!
