Supermarket checkout - embarrassing?

Completely agree. My shopping consists of fish for me and meat for the kids, rice, pasta. Oh and dog food for the dogs obviously.

Doesn't bother me what other folks think but it is so satisfying going round the fruit and veg section thinking, I'm self sufficient in this, I'm self sufficient in that. It's really when all the effort brings the reward.

Being an early bird we go to the supermarket about 7-30 am. Its dead easy to shop and you never have to suffer the queues.
I only buy carrots and mushrooms from them cant grow mushrooms or carrots and I like the carrots they do as they come from Yorkshire.
Fruit, (plus any other veg I need but don't grow), meat and fish I get from the market in Sheffield, and when I want tatties I buy a sack from a local garden centre who has a regular grower nearby.

There's nowhere else to shop hereOriginally posted by Alison View PostI don't use supermarkets
any farm shops are much to far away for a non-driver.

Yes! Kilos and kilos of sugar for pickles, jams, chutneys and wine
When I'm making cheese I use 20/22 litres of milk, that gets some looks too

Our shopping looks so lacking on the checkout belt, no fruit, no veg. Sometimes do wonder what other folk might make of it.

Not with sugar...but with several litres of vodka and gin and calvados I do!
...especially when I go back for more the following week

Supermarket checkout - embarrassing?
At this time of year when I generally buy negligible amounts of fruit, veg and salad but kilos of sugar to make jam and pints of cream to go with my strawberries I sometimes feel embarrassed when I see other customers eyeing up my purchases as I go through the checkout.
Does anyone else feel the same?Tags: None
