Thank your lucky stars I say, if they linked life expectancy with retirement, then you wouldn't be retiring until the age of 71 if you are a man, and women would be older still.

I'm not yet retired, but I'm looking forward to it creeping up on me, a bit like the bad back and the dodgy knees, and the bizarre moan I make when I try to get out of bed. On second thoughts I think retirement is unlikely, if I retire I might not get up again.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

I am 33, and I am already planning my retirement. (This is a semi serious comment).

I just hope I am still in reasonable health then!

But you never know, I might somehow come into piles of cash before retirement age!!!!

That's pretty much what happened to me at about the same age. I didn't retire though until I had a stroke 10 years later.

Enjoy your retirement, Zebedee, you'll wonder how you ever had time to work.

Nah, don't do bingo or golf or that sort of stuff, but my eldest son has a philosophy that I buy into full time - you are only young once, but you can be immature for ever! Guess what?

there was an article in the daily mail (i look at it online with all the other papers - you can do that when you retire) that said for a happy retirement you need an income of 17,000 and a house in the South West. I'm in the SW of France - hope that counts. IOW? South or south west?
