sore ankles - ideas anyone?

has anyone got any tried and tested remedies to soften up boots please? Mr W has a new pair of DM work boots but they are giving him grief trying to break them in, his tried thick socks but even they don't seem to be helping, so I thought i'd ask the very knowledgeable grapes.

We use Proofide on leather bike saddles, to soften them up

Dubbin works well to soften and waterproof boots. DM even sell their own brand.

My Dad used to warm then hammer the leather on the inside.

When I was farming I often got sore feet from wearing wellies all day, I used the big elastoplast fabric which came on a strip. Its the movement between foot and boot that causes the abrasion and the elastoplast cushions this. I found once i had worn the patch for a few days and my sore had healed I didn't need them anymore.

Don't you have any servant that could wear them for a couple of weeks to break them in?
