Just had 3 crumpets with butter and Marmite I know they were crumpets because that's what it said on the label.

Something got lost between Delia's recipe and these crumpets
            They'll make good cobblestones though

Bren, labels are not always accurate, my shirt is labelled large and it`s a bit tight, three or four years ago that size fitted me but they must have changed the specifications for they dont fit now too many crumpets??? no it cant be that.

I agree with Rary, sizes just aren't what they used to be!

VC, I confess to making some 'flapjacks' last weekend, in a mad moment, didn't have the right size tin, so improvised and spread mixture between 2 tins, don't know What went wrong, but even the birds couldn't manage them!

Yes well there you go, i was born n bred in the Midlands, and seeing as thats the centre of the country the word pikelet must be official, Q.E.

I'm with Bill here, I moved to this area 20 years ago and discovered the North Staffordshire pikelet and oatcake. They are things of culinary beauty - follow this link to find out more

I bought some more ... tried marmite on them ... not bad.
I still prefer marmite on wholemeal toast, and jam or marmalade (or just plain butter) on crumpets

I think VC made some, they are very cheap to buy, probably cost more to bake at home. I buy them to.
