I keep hitting the refresh button - eager for puppy news. On my own puppy news front, Petal has started to jump up onto chairs even though she is still diddy - so none of us can escape from her now!

Well just had my son who is working in a bar on minimum wage being almost sick about this. He booked a flight with the airline with the nations flag on for 28 December but had to cancel last week. Flight cost �1300.00 he expected to pay a penalty...but not �1100.00!! Anyone explain how these companies get away with this? He has been saving a long time for this too...feels as though he has been robbed! That's him now �1100 down for absolutely nothing!! Could weep!

I would make them prove that they can't resell the ticket.... It doesn't seem right that they can charge you if they do.

G'Mooooooooooooornin' Peeps! wet and drizzly here this morning, so good job I have indoor jobs to keep me occupied.

MiL asked us, just over a week ago, if we'd like half a pig. Last time, it took months to arrive, so I said yes please, and she told me it would be our Christmad present. Fab! I told her, at the time, that I needed to defrost the freezer, as the draws are sticking, due to it being frosted-up, and there was no way it could go in there any time soon. With me so far?

TWO DAYS later, she texts me, asking if the freezer was empty yet, as the pork is ready. NOOOOOOO I tell her, I can't start on the freezer until this Saturday. Today. And she says her friend has it in her freezer until we can collect. Phew! Still with me?

THIS MORNING just before nine, we get a phone call to say BiL is picking the meat up this morning, and will be delivering it. F. F. S!!!!

Good job I turned the freezer off last night. Managed to get the food out, stack it in the bath, and have wrapped it in sleeping bags and a newly laundered horse blanket. Always say our bathroom is like a fridge, now it has to live up to its reputation!

Ruddy coffee's gone cold now. I'm off to get the hair dryer on it.

No! The ice in the freezer - not the ruddy coffee.

I really dislike defrosting the freezer. Such a thankless task. You get cold and wet and have nothing to show for it except a bucket of slush.
Mine's a big beast of a thing, lurking in the garage. I can just about reach the bottom of it, by standing on tiptoes and leaning in. I know why they call it a Chest Freezer.

Morning it's dank and miserable here,best of luck with the freezer G4,have you tryed the near boiling water in the freezer,it soon defrost,i usualy do mine in the summer,just in time for the first produce from the plots,i find it a good time of year as it's run down,just need to restrict oneself from buying extra bread and things,VC you know that saying about a watched kettle,hehehe,take a few deep breaths,and rest,take your mind into the garden and slowly count the falling leaves {compost to be},or start some more veggie experiments,

Morning all, wet and horrible this morning but I think it's to clear up later. Enjoy yourself G4 defrosting that freezer...rather you than me! No sign of these puppies yet VC, Bessie likes to keep us all waiting! Oh well off to,get some breakfast, see you later!

Yup! Emptied, defrosted, cleaned, labeled and restocked!

My friendly butcher gave me a tip, yestarday. He's an expert on defrosting freezers (and giving me free freezer-burnt goodies for the dogs, too!) He said to get a hair-dryer on it. It melts the seal between the ice and the plastic/metal, and allows you to tap it off into chunks, instead of waiting for it all to melt.

I forgot to say, it's an upright freezer. I shoved a shallow plastic tub in the bottom, rolled up an old towel and laid that across the front of the opening, and set my big old fan heater in front of it. It was about a foot off the ground, standing on two of the shelves from the freezer. Whilst that was going, I got at the top shelf with the hair-dryer and a wooden spatula.
