Tea in the morning is in a bone china breakfast cup and saucer
Coffee in the morning at work is in a bone china mugette (which has a garden shed and a watering can illustration)
Tea in the afternoon is in a bone china cup and saucer
Wine in the evening is in a very sparkly clear stemmed glass and the best drink of the day

Current favourite is a lovely potter cup/mug with deer and fir trees around the side. I got it as a present last Christmas and it's still unbroken. I genuinely think some cups and mugs are better than others for drinking tea. Children (grown) think that's a daft idea. But then, as someone said earlier in this thread, they probably think tea grows in bags.

I have a collection of mugs - a blue spotty one, a penguin 'Wuthering Heights' one, a 'Keep Calm and carry on Gardening one' and a Clipper tea one.

Umm. no, I'd love to have a go though, I love wooden utensils they so much more tactile.

Here's my kuksa, currently filled with hot elderberry syrup.



It holds about half the liquid your average mug will, but I don't mind refilling it.

Looks lovely - but too nice to use!!
Does it soak up the liquid into the wood and retain the taste? That's my reservation about wooden utensils - so I have different wooden spoons for curry and jam making etc.

I prefer to say its seasoned VC.

It can't be dishwashed as to removes the woods natural oils, but its lovely to hold as your hands naturally cup the bowl.

They paint themselves - the curry one is yellow, the jam one red

I find when my Arthritis is flaring my Denby mugs are too heavy so now my fave mug is my free crunchie one! Lovely thin China! My other saved for best mug, my Granny gave me. I save it cos the handle is super glued on and I'm a bit scared if it breaks again it won't go back on again. And I have a work mug that's followed me through about four jobs maybe five (if you include the 6 month temp job!) I love that one cod it holds lots and it says "good morning let the stress begin"!

I used to have a black Dennis the Menace one until our border collie wheeched it off the table with her tail and it broke . I had a succession of rather unsatisfactory mugs (including one from Ann Summers I got as a secret santa that was too rude for work) until last year on a day trip to Elgin I got a replacement for my DTM mug in a charity shop.

My work mug is an English Heritage "Castle" one with a chip in the rim (another Collie casualty) this one is never washed, to deter the workplace mug thieves. I reckon as long as it's filled with boiling water regularly that should kill anything living in it.
