  • Gardeners World at the weekend

had a great day at GW on Saturday, was there for about 5 hours. Some of the flowers and displays were stunning, just amazing and we enjoyed wandering around and seeing them.
I was looking for ideas/inspiration but unfortunately I didn't get any that I couldn't of got from the local garden centre so I was a bit disappointed. It was big but not as big as I thought and as it was twinned with the good food show there was more food related stalls than gardening.
Got a few bargains though and also got some Poppys "ladybird" variety which I have never seen before and couldn't resist

Overall a good day out and worth the journey up there if only because I got a few sneaky pics of Monty. Unfortunately I didn't get to talk to him and ask him what happened to my runner beans

P.S - your right, parking charges were nothing short of daylight robbery !!!!

When the work is done and the garden is fine, the fun will flow as will the wine - Me!

There tended to be just myself that went and the accumulated cost for a day eventually made it too costly. Something made me sit and think when it got to £60 to visit what is still a gardening show.

Surprised about the flowers as there used to be an area with a whole load of plants available. Stood on mobile shelving as racks. They were for the various growers but the growers tended to specialise in one thing or another. It may have shrunk or gone as I guess to have a stand there would be costly for the nurseries. Perhaps many have withdrawn.

Not sure of the idea of twinning shows. Went to a couple that were twinned and eventually both have disappeared.

Concern is that it could price itself too high and people will stop suddenly. Sometimes the idea of twinning is that people will get the idea of 2 shows for a bit more then one, but that still means paying more however. I see the Good Food show is on at 3 different places around the UK

A friend of mine went and she said that there were loads of plants for sale but I don't know on what scale she was grading this. She also reckoned that the food bit was all a bit rubbish with nothing worth buying and very little free samples.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
