Some days it's hardly worth chewing through the restraints!

    • Had a friend from Perth, who is attending a Chess Congress today, staying over last night and I forgot the cat was sleeping in the spare room - after watching a movie we went to bed about 1am and after about 5 minutes I heard a voice and movement which went on and on. Eventually I got up, put on a dressing gown and opened the bedroom door to find him standing at the top of the stairs still in his outdoor clothing.

On enquiring what was up he advised that the cat spitting and snarling had chased him out the room. It took some persuasion from me before she agreed to move out - it was all I could do to restrain my laughter - who needs a guard dog?

                • Watching the fledgling Great Tits, fluttering their wings and chattering for food, while their parents rushed from branch to branch gathering up beakfuls of summat to shove into their gaping beaks. Then a brave little birdie would make frantic flapping movements and, much to its surprise, flutter from its branch and land, with an ungainly thump on another branch. The apple and oak trees have been alive all day with the birds.

                              • Had our first Open Day at the allotments and it was a roaring success. The waiting list is now at the stage, as loads of people asked to put their names down. I'm burnt red raw from the sun, even with wearing UV shirts. I got called a doozey mare as a term of endearment (plus I can be a bit of a doozey mare). I'm knackered and roll onto the next Open Day in September.
