I like it - not least as I should be doing the same with my two 'this-year's-legumes-overwinter-brassicas' beds. Which look spookily like yours, Sheneval, actually.

Have studies the pics, though, and conclude that despite initial appearances you haven't sped 400-odd miles south in order to do me a favour.

      Hazel,

I had never done this before but I found it surprisingly easy - I used a large scoop to take the lime from the original bag and put it in it's tempy container tub which I had on the kitchen scales to ensure I got the right amount as per instructions - I did this outside as I had visions of the lime rising in a cloud but this proved not to be the case; although very fine it clung together until I began to spread it over the soil - I watered and raked it in after the photos were taken. Took me about 30 mins or so in total. I found the scoop did half the bed - it held about 450g. Avoid windy days.

      Good luck

challenge half done - finished the book 'the slap' which was excellent.
I have more chance of marrying George Clooney than sorting out the school recycling system - noone cares and one teacher is even using the recycling box I gave her- had the hassle to order for her - deliver to her.... to store text books in, the silly cow.
ok, my challenge for next week is to prepare assembly for the lower school on sustainability - focus on waste - hope she feels really guilty when she hears it........

Forget listing stuff on ebay for Week 3. I'm knitting instead. The challenge is finishing the jumper started last Autumn! Sleeves and ribbing are needed to complete it.

Did'nt defrost the 2 freezers in OH shed as it was tooooo cold but cleared out the attic which was to be my next week challenge. Very pleased with myself as it has been on the list for a long time.

Oh Bu99er, trust me to choose tomorrow for my 2nd challenge......all I want to do is mark my SFG but it's turning into one of those 5 jobbers, you see I've got to take the rhubarb out of the SFG bed first, before I can do that I have to move the compost bin so I can make a new bed to put the bladdy rhubarb in.......I blame VC cos then I could have stuck with my 2ft square beds instead of 1ft x 2ft square beds......now I don't know what I'm talking about.

I agree with you - VC is to blame for just about anything that goes wrong
