Beautiful day today - sun shone from early morning through to darkness fell and I had to have a meeting in the morning followed by another one in the afternoon with preparation time before both, meaning no time up the lottie today - first decent weather day I have missed in 7 weeks aarghh

Had to spend the day dealing with various people who can't / won't think for themselves, or indeed, do much in the way of work.

Helping juniors who are learning their job is one thing; dealing with people hanging round my desk whining about minor issues, or complaining how much work they have to get through (although they have rocked up late, taken over an hour's lunch, spent much of the afternoon chatting with each other, and left at 5 pm on the dot): quite something else.

Some days I wonder why I wanted this job....... sigh.

I'll add my own employment-related grumble to this:

The manager doesn't think I notice that they go for at least half a dozen breaks spread out across the day, each ranging from 15 minutes to half an hour. I'm slaving away doing my work plus additional tasks and they're up in the canteen skiving!

Mithering people - I don't work super long hours, but when I'am at home I expect to rest, relax and engage my interests such as gardening, not be constantly pestered and tormented by everybody else! I'am a reserved sort of person as it is and so enjoy some peace and quiet. I work in a job where I'm around loads of different people for the whole day and I only ask to be able to escape from humanity for a few hours each day. But as soon as I come in someone is pestering me to do something for them, is acting the goat or just being a general nuisance! Stop it, the world doesn't revolve around you, I haven't been in the house 5 minutes and yet here year are - I just want to sit down for blooming five minutes!!
Luckily for them I'm usually quite mellow at that time of day, usually from being knackered. It is the thing that most annoys me though, I detest mithering.

Wasn't familiar with the term 'mithering', so looked it up (see below), and hell yes I agree! I am surrounded by fully signed-up, card-carrying, professional mitherers.

Seriously, why can people not just come in, do the job they are paid to do, and go home again?

Or just in general, why can they just not see a problem, think about how to solve it, and then solve it? Why is there a need for tantrums over it, hysterics about it, involving every other person in a 10-mile radius in it, emailing each other for it, talking about it, going away to 'have a coffee and calm down about it', blaming it on someone else, asking me to help them with it, comparing their experience of it with someone else's experience of it, or otherwise entirely failing to DEAL WITH IT!!!

Everyone uses it up here, I thought it was part of slang nationwide. It's a good word, we should popularise it.

Being told last week that we needed to change the day I do Gardening Club, due to the TA who helps being assigned to something else on the usual day. Agreeing that they would speak to the children involved, work out which other day they could all do and let me know. Waiting several days for a call or a text message and get nowt, and then get called at lunchtime today asking why I'd not come in. Errrr, because you didn't tell me to!!

Getting all excited over the prospect of a classroom sized polytunnel offered to us, second hand, finally getting in to look properly at it and discovering that the foundation tubes/anchor plates/door frames are concreted in, and the timber base rails aren't in a state to be reused, which makes the whole thing financially non-viable. Gutted

Being reminded that whilst on one hand everyone is rallying round to help out due to fires, some people are still very much all about themselves.

I'm keen to manage our farm with as few chemicals as possible, and have been networked with a few people trying to pool our information. Suggested putting what we are doing onto a website so that anyone can access it and see 'what worked, what didn't' and take it from there.............

Asked one of the people I've been networked with and she looked uncomfortable but told me what she'd been doing, and that her neighbour and she had done some stuff, and that he was going to do a blog about it, and that it was 'a bit of a secret' .............yep. Okaaay.

Pretty ticked all day. But now figure I'd best go back and find some others who have some of the info I need, and then take it from there myself.

No, you don't have to share. But I want to, because I think we all should be helping each other not trying to keep it all to ourselves.

Really annoyed at their attitude. Oh and yes, that bloggy thing I talked about? That would be a good thing to get out ahead of anyone else.......what is this? A freakin' competition? GRRRRRRRRRRRR

The little toad next door (he's ten) is throwing snowballs at anyone at all who ventures near their garden. This includes the postman and some very unsteady pensioners and all of the traffic coming around the blind bend they live on. His mother has just told me it's 'harmless fun'

And the traffic? My goodness some people are really getting quite a speed up in all that snow and slush. How wonderful to be able to go so fast! Can you stop just as fast? I wouldn't think so....

And another thing; hot cocoa. Two identical jars both containing dark brown powder. Pull one out, put two huge heapies in my mug, mix it up with some evaporated milk. All well and good, except it's cinnamon..... Jars are clearly labelled, next time I'll read them....

Brr it's cold out. Have some containers for recycling bin to go out but done as much as I can at the moment (have done the compost trip down the garden, fed the birds, emptied the kitchen bin... brr)

Yeah, he's copped it now. He just threw a snowball at my BinL who is obviously unsteady on his feet because he has Parkinson's. My sister had to pick him up, I brought him in and the sister has just gorn an' 'ad 'ead' fit at the boy and his dozy mother.

Only if it has a rock in it. Parents should just tell their kids not to throw snowballs at adults, just at other kids. There's no need to ruin their fun though.

Rant about colleague...again, sorry but she's going my head in.

She's worked there 18 months longer than me so why do I have to drop everything 3 times in 10 minutes to help her raise a basic purchase order and she still can't get it to work. The I get it thrown back in my face because I didn't tell her to click in one box (because I thought it was obvious) and so it's my fault.

She needs a "written procedure" before she can do anything. The suggestion that you can fiddle with something till you work it out for yourself (my general approach to most things) is met with "Well, I don't work like that!"

She never listens to anything that doesn't directly involve herself so telling her that the reason something isn't working or why she gets picked up for doing something wrong is met with "Well, I didn't know that!" That's 'cos you DON'T LISTEN FFS.

I'm getting so fed up with the constant "I've got so much to do, I can't keep track etc" whinges and the thinly veiled barbs that she thinks I'm not pulling my weight. (I am and some of hers as well). Never ending moans about our line manager, who to be fair is a bit of a control freak but is a rank amateur compared to some I've worked with (10 years in Local Government) so I don't let it get to me.

I thought I was going to get an hours peace there but Oh, no she went to the shop and came back to the office. I don't know if I can stand another 4 hours without going for her throat.
