I suppose Gaelic words have that quality - Cardhu (Cardoo) is another - someone spent years developing the taste so they probably took a lot of trouble with the names as wellOriginally posted by lottie dolly View Postsounds like somat with strings, but how many, and is it strumed, plucked or a stroke with bowEndeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

Some of them are rather coarse and they can give you a terible hangover but the Gaelic word translates as 'the water of life' - Personally now I only drink whisky at New Year as I don't have the head for it.Originally posted by veggiechicken View PostCan I make a confession now? I've never really liked whisky - of course, if there's nothing else - or the alternative is tap water.........Endeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

I only know all this because my daughter worked for UD now Diageo after Uni for 6 months and got 2free bottles every month and others at a reduced price - I bought them all from her and still have most of them - they are everywhere in the cupboards and under the bed - if anyone finds them they will assume i am an AlkiEndeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

Saying you don't like whisky is like saying you don't like tomatoes.
Until you have tasted every single variety you just don't know. I try to set a good example, every time I find a bottle I haven't tasted before I cannot resist. And of course you cannot make a judgement on a sip you have to work your way through the bottle over time to come to a considered judgement.
