  • Thanks VC for all your support and encouragement.

Have to say I am chuffed to bits.

Potty......I still need to inject that inhibitor stuff into a rad when you have time?

          • Thanks Taff.

Pressure this morning was 0.4 bar and low pressure light was on. There was a little moisture around the compression nut so re-tightened that and set pressure to 1 bar.

At least it hadn't dropped to 0 bar so I guess 0.4 is an improvement of sorts .

Could there be something else wrong?

When I poured the water out of the old vessel it was black.

            • That drop could be caused by a very small leak of maybe even air moving round the system as it settles down. We will come to that later.

As to injecting the inhibitor I am presuming you have got the Fernox Express F1 which is in a pressurised container. First can you tell me if you have a radiator without thermostatic radiator valves?

              • Whoops just picked up on the black water, last I heard it was clean.

Not to worry this is not unusual when you have been topping up with fresh water on a regular basis.

My advise would be to hold off on the inhibitor for the time being and use a system cleanser first that will put the sludge/magnatite into suspension and allow you to flush it out off the system

                • The water was black and yukky when I removed the old vessel and emptied it, as much as i could. When i initially checked it via it's valve it appeared to be clear, but then i didn't allow much to come out.

Can you recommend a system cleaner and i'll order one today.

                  • Either of these any good? Is the powerflush really likely to be that much stronger than the normal cleaner?

                    • The only Rad without a thermostatic valve is the one closet to the boiler but it doesn't have a drain cock either.

                      • Fernox Express F5 again in the pressurised container makes the job so much easier.

We don't need a drain cock this time we will inject the cleanser via a radiator thats why I asked about rad valves.

Has the pressure remained stable today so far?

                        • Ok i'll order that...will be here tomorrow.

Yes it's been as high as 1.8 then 1.6 now 1.5.

There is a tiny amount of water on top of the vessel, around the big nut, this is where there was some kind of sealer before....can you recommend a suitable sealant I could squirt around that, without having to undo the flexi hoses as I've got those tight now.

                              • Chill, close your eyes and think of all the pennies you have saved yourself and now you don't have to deal with Warmflow anymore they are out of your life.

There is no rush to get the next bit done. When the cleanser arrives that will be in your system for at least a week before we move on to the next stage.
