So they've already been bashed before you catch them?...and you want to bash an already bashed flatty! That's so unsporting!

Bashing is what you do when using a an end rig designed for a particular fish & is used "actively" for mackeral there is the "feather" which is retrieved in a sink & draw manner,fot "flatties" there is the spoon (with hook bait) retrieved at a variable rate so that the spoon disturbs the sand,visually attracting the fish to the bait.
Where with a static baited end rig there is normally quite a wide variety of round fish that will attack it,with the above you are aiming at a particular species so the fish stocks take a "bashing"
