You sure you don't mean this one?
    St. Euphrosyne

Died about 470. Her story belongs to that group of legends which relate how Christian virgins, in order the more successfully to lead the life of celibacy and asceticism to which they had dedicated themselves, put on male attire and passed for men. According to the narrative of her life in the "Vitæ Patrum", Euphrosyne was the only daughter of Paphnutius, a rich man of Alexandria, who desired to marry her to a wealthy youth. But having consecrated her life to God and apparently seeing no other means of keeping this vow, she clothed herself as a man and under the name of Smaragdus gained admittance into a monastery of men near Alexandria, where she lived for thirty-eight years after. She soon attracted the attention of the abbot by the rapid strides which she made toward a perfect ascetic life, and when Paphnutius appealed to him for comfort in his sorrow, the abbot committed the latter to the care of the alleged young man Smaragdus. The father received from his own daughter, whom he failed to recognize, helpful advice and comforting exhortation. Not until she was dying did she reveal herself to him as his lost daughter Euphrosyne. After her death Paphnutius also entered the monastery. Her feast is celebrated in the Greek Church on 25 September, in the Roman Church on 16 January (by the Carmelites on 11 February).

      this one
EUPHROSYNE was the goddess of good cheer, joy, mirth and merriment. She was one of the three Kharites (Graces). Her name derives from the Greek word euphrosynos "merriment". In the mosaic right she is paired with Akratos, the celebratory spirit of unmixed wine. Usually, however, she appears dancing in a circle with her triplet sisters.

I think VC is looking for a character like Demelza of Poldark fame.

        But Welsh obviously...not Cornish.

VC et al, sorry but I am very confused now... are we doing the woodland fairytale character thing, which sounds fine?

If so I will cancel my dragon request and sort out a fairytale character....

I have absolutely no idea what we're doing, PnK! We may as well just choose an alter ego for ourselves and see how they fit together. At the moment I'm thinking Wood Nymph

Now I am thoroughly confused. However, this is a normal state of affairs for me so that's fine

I would have volunteered to be a dragon since it is my Chinese sign - a water dragon no less! That suited me fine.

But if we are staying in the wild wood
                  how about a druid?
                  That could do well.
Specially if we can grow a spot of mistletoe
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I think we've lost the plot before we even had one!! So we either think of a theme and stick to it or just be whatever we fancy and see what happens!! Any thoughts?

Well at least as Emrys I would have some sway with the dragons.

So, we have a dragon (Pnk) & a water dragon (Jeanie) a wolf (DK), Myrddin (Merlin - Potty), a lady of leisure (Bins) and a tentative Wood nymph (Me).
Anyone else stepping up to the stage?

I found some good pics for dragons - dunno if you want to use it Jeannie, but here is a pic of a water dragon, which I found completely charming.

And here is my picture, my name is Cerra....

As for young Potty-Emrys, I've heard all about your banishing the dragon from under the hill where they were trying to build a tower. The tower kept falling down until you got rid of the dragon....

VC-Nymph, not thinking of buiding a tower are you?? (P.S. love the avatar - very norty!)
