Goodnight everyone. Thanks for your company today. Just remember, there are only 364 shopping days to Christmas (sorry - sometimes I just can't stop myself).

Thank you Secret Santa (I didn't even look at the post code) for my prezzie. The 'apple bird feeder' is a brilliant idea, and of course SEEEEDS! I will be sitting down to make a sowing plan for the year today, no doubt it will all go horribly wrong and I will be looking for space/new homes for plants all year. But that's the fun isn't it?
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

Well I got some lovely pressies - gloves that match my big worst weather jacket, seeds, loads of plastic seed envelopes (so I spent yesterday evening sorting out my tomato seeds), plant labels and a torch key ring (how fabby). Best part is the homemade jam (now finished as friends dropped by and they needed to try the jam on toast), red currant jelly which I'll use in Nigel Slater's veg stew (see his Christmas programme for the recipe) and Apple and Chilli Jelly (think that will go lovely with cheese). So big big thank you to my Secret Santa

Hello everyone. Exhausting day yesterday, but lovely eating with the family, even if it did take me the best part of 2 hours clearing up. One stayed overnight - Chester - my daughter's dog!
Thank you very much to my Secret Santa who sent me a diary and some jars of homemade jam, jelly and marmalade. We had some of the jelly with the cheese after dinner, delicious.

Had a lovely relaxed day yesterday following my sister's last minute surprise wedding on the 23rd - which was fab but stressful!
Many thanks to my SS, very thoughtful! Some flytrap plant seeds for a challenging solution to the yearly fly problem (hope I'm up to it!), chilli seeds, a little LED glowing ghost that has been taken away for safekeeping by children, some MARMITE flavoured CHOCOLATE (hubby looked in disbelieving horror at that one!) and a Waitrose christmas pudding that is now half a pudding! Delish, thank you!

Thank you Secret Santa for the handwash and handcream. Just the thing to use when I come in with wet and muddy hands from the lottie or garden. I've never got the hang of wearing gloves for everything, so my hands need some TLC.
Hope everyone had a great day, we stayed up last night watching the Deathly Hallows (part 1 and 2), after we realised we'd mislooked the tv progs, and Poirot wasn't on until tonight. I didn't get to bed until 2, so a leisurely start this morning, cuppa in bed, with a home made mince pie, courtesy of son no2. Nothing much planned for today, and just curry tonight after wonderful roast venison yesterday (free range and wild, present from my brother).
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
