WOW Factor Seedlings ?

I have been absolutely AMAZED by two lots of seedlings which really have the WOW factor in terms of their first few days:

• Zapalito - a courgette seed I got in Spain. Wow its big - seems to grow as you watch it; and
• some Lima Beans which Alice sent me, incredibly spectacular and they have only popped their heads above the soil these last 24 hours.

Anybody else got any veg seedlings like this? If I had any young children I think they would be absolutely captivated by these seeds.

I think my seeds are beautiful. This is a bit like asking if people love their children, of course they do, and theirs are the brightest, prettiest and best.

You're right about the courgettes - giant seed leaves in no time at all. Anything that pops up in such a short period of time is very impressive to me!

Of course courgettes also have lovely second leaves - I'll have to put a pic of them on the blog so that JG can see what to look out for.

As I am so often told, size isn't everything.

I'm very impressed with my Purple Tiger seedlings - took forever to show themselves but they are really really bright purple, didn't need a label for them they stand out next to the other chillies, toms etc

Not in the class of courgettes and Lima Beans Jennie, but I've been very impressed with my Pak Choi. Germinated in a few days and started straight into real leaves. They're now planted out in a raised bed and getting right on with the job.

Following a fellow grapes advice when I was looking for hulless pumpkin seeds tried Pumpkin nuts from Chiltern seeds - they must run Jack's beanstalk a close second. Fastest growing things I've ever seen.

I now understand why Jack had a beanstalk, some of the beans we've started have reached 8" in just 2 days since breaking thru the surface of the pot!! Definitely a case of almost being able to see them grow!

My kale and sweetcorn are up after 2 days, were not up this morning but they sure are now!

Getting excited now is I planted up 4 shelves of seeds at the weekend and the greenhouse is nearly finished.....

Roll on the weekend loads of packets still too be sown

Okra - wasn't expecting much so put loads in one pot. Now HAVE loads! Funny how it goes isn't it. Butternut squash - only one germination. Courgette - what courgettes?

I swapped a cow for a handfull of beans earlier in the year and they have absolutely shot up.
