I was just the same. Eventually, a blood test revealed an under active thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) and I don't feel quite as cold any more. Nor as tired.Originally posted by OverWyreGrower View PostLike other Grapes, I can be absolutely freezing whilst Mr OWG is in shorts and t-shirt.
I routinely wear 2 pairs of socks, plus woolly slippers, fleece-type tracky pants, long sleeve tshirt, hoody and my Slanket (blanket with sleeves!) when the heating is on, and I'm still really, really cold....

I haven't stopped using a hot water bottle all year. Some of us really suffer in the cold ~ it's not even frosty yet, but my fingers are so cold all day that they won't bend, or feel anythingOriginally posted by northepaul View Postyou can wear slippers, jumpers and wrap blankets around yourself, and use a hot water bottle at night!!All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

I'm so jealous of you lot with the real fires, distant memories of the smell and the cracking sounds and the beautiful glow.....sigh.

Me being me mine is never truely turned off. The programmable digistat is set from 7-30am to 8-30am at 20`C and from 4-30pm to 10pm at 21`C at all other times its set to 12`C if ever the temperature drops below those given figures the heating comes on. It is false economy to allow the house to fall to low in temp over night or during the day when you are out as when your heating comes on the fabric of the house soaks up the heat.
To make things cheaper all the radiators except the hall which controls the digistat have thermostatic rad valves so the rooms can be set to individual temps. So combined fuel bill for the year is just over 800.
