Ok, spoke to the Personnel Manager, I passed the interview (only 2 of the 12 of us they interviewed did pass), so they want me to join the team, BUT they have just had a restructure directive come through, which means until they have reinterviewed their own people (as they have to loose 1 of their current Managers), they have to keep the vacancy that I applied for open.

It means I am in, but not until they have gone thru the consultation process with the existing staff, if none of them are suitable / want to move onto Nights (which is where the current vacancy is), then I could be in within a few weeks, but otherwise I will be in at some point!

So, good news, but no actual start date as yet, so I need to keep on as I am with my current employer until there is a vacancy come up at that store, or until after Ive done the Express Manager Assessment Center in 2 weeks time (at which point I may get an offer of Store Manager in an Express)

it's not a good sign when they're this disorganised that they couldn't tell you what was going on.
having said that though, you really want this job, so here's hoping it works out well for you

good luck. I no exactly where you are and the company I work for has a clause that I cannot be paid overtime. I can do 14 hours extra and claim 1/2 a day off. They expect you us to do the graft and as I work in the aircraft industry they are always wanting to meet deadlines. If they are not met I am at fault though the resources I need are not alays available it's never thier problem I am told get on with it. It's stressfull (30 hours unpaid o/t a month at least) and I must admit I am looking elsewhere. It isn't worth the hassle. I am considering going to see if I can get a job stacking shelves at local superstore. I could always move on and work abroad or contract away from home but I have done loads of that and my OH used to think I was a passing lodger only coming home once a month. Still we wil see what occurs. Any way good luck with your new job and hope all is as you want.

Thanks guys n gals! I know it feels like its been disorganised, but the Personnel Manager was told early last week not to take anyone external on, but wasnt told why. He only found out yesterday himself, and the Management team in the store (same jobs as Ive applied for) dont yet know that they are going to be shuffled and one posiion will be going, so until they go thru the consultation I am on holf, although there are also 2 new stores opening soon, so I will be considered for one of them!
