why does it happen and is it me???????????

i loving planted and potted on, avoided damp stem rot, planted in a 40cm prepared pot and watered lightly but regularly got 2 great round courgettes....................the the whole thing starts dieing.

the three other plants i composted and threw on the pile are better looking and healthier and about to bear fruit.....why have they survived..........

help me god nature is a strange but wonderful thing............

I find that courgettes don't do well in pots. The compost heap is obviously giving them what they need. A free root run and lots of lovely damp compost to grow into.

Funnily enough, they thrive in growbags outside.

Mine were rubbish in buckets last year so they are back in the ground this year. Yours must have just wanted to stretch their roots Phil!

Mine are in the ground again,but not performing as well as last year,but on the upside the peas are about 20 times better.

My courgettes are in pots and are growing there little heads off. I've had 9 off 1 plant and 6 off the other. But, my Red Turks Turban squash bit the dust and that was in the raised bed, also my Trombetta di Albenga is still struggling that's in the raised bed as well . On a happier note, mi butternut squash & Winter Festival are taking over the world .
