Maybe if you cc him the email and point out the amount of money he could have had in his hand, he will be more inclined to change his attitude. Telling a man he just blew his chance at �20 000 is not something that makes him happy, or leaves him thinking he did the right thing. But then again, if he's a real sociopath, impulsive behaviour and an inability to link actions with consequences go with the general sh***y attitude.
You can't do anything about this situation, so why not treat the mrs to some roses and a special treat, remind yourselves that there are still good things in life that he can't touch ?
