Having been brought up in the NW England, there are a lot of Irish descendants in the area....consequently it's always been celebrated around me all my life.
My mother's grandparents were Irish- and she always wore a shamrock as a kid so it seems natural that I celebrate it too.
I have Scottish blood and Welsh blood ( and lived in Cardiff for a few years )and am happy to celebrate those days too.
Strangely though- I've never celebrated St Georges Day...no idea why!
I suppose it's because I've never had red roses flowering in my garden nor see Dragon burgers
for sale on the day.
I did read something recently about the possibility of May Day being cancelled and possibly making St George's Day a Bank Holiday instead.
I'd willingly celebrate St Georges Day...but I can't honestly get my head around what to focus on
Hmm.....tea and scone party anyone???
