Different tunes for different times :

Theme to StarTrek:First Contact. Beautiful music, reminds me of my Dad.

Kate Rusby - My Young Man, stunning lyrics about a coal miner and what being a miner did to peoples health, told from his wifes' perspective. Colliery brass brand plays in the background, and when I saw her live a few years ago just Kate, another guitarist and the 5-piece brass section on stage, well there wasnt a dry eye in the house.

The Fray - How To Save A Life. Not in itself anything *too* special, but it plays over an episode of Scrubs when 3 of Dr Cox's patients die in rapid succession, sending him into a downward spiral. An emotional hit that also never fails to leave a dry eye, and something the likes of Holby and Casualty can only dream of hitting.

At the other end of the scale :
AC/DC - Thunderstruck - first song my 7month old boy heard. About 3minutes old and out popped the iPod in the labour room

Theme to Indiana Jones - my wife and I walked back up the aisle to this, and the look on peoples faces as they slowly realised what the music was

Elgars Pomp and Circumstance. Few pieces of classical music deserve to be played as loud as this, and as frequently hitting the 'rewind' button!

Joe Satriani - Ten Words and Friends, dont know what it is, but they are two spectactularly uplifting tunes

And lastly (I do go on sometimes...)
Queen - These Are The Days of Our Lives. Beautiful lyrics, gentle video, especially poignant given the knowledge the band had of Freddie's health. About the most perfect song I have ever heard.

If you havent heard any of these, please search them out.

Brian Eno - An Ending (Ascent)

Allegri's Miserere. It absolutely soars and is sublimely otherworldly.

How could I forget my 2 all time favorite classical pieces, the first is...

..."Adagio" in G Minor (Albinoni), it had me crying buckets when I watched the film "Gallipoli". Such an apt piece to play.

YouTube - Adagio in G Minor (Albinoni)

And Debussy "Clair de lune" no particular reason...it's just a beautiful piece of music.

YouTube - Debussy, Clair de lune (piano music)

I also love "Sympathy With The devil" By The Rolling Stones but that's because it's my OH's favorite . Were both BIG Stones fans.

Most things classical, particularly Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker for easy listening. All of the compositions of Saint-Saens, but in particular Symphony No 3 in C Minor (the organ's fabulous).
Rod Stewart's Maggie May because it's "Our Song".
