  • one man and his camper van

6.30 on BBC2. Does anyone else think One man and his camper van is bonkers! We have an old camper van so were looking forward to it, but unfortunately most of us wont have friends who will give us permission to camp on their country estates or forage for salad on their private lands, or have friends who can differentiate between identical looking deadly or tasty mushrooms so we dont die!

And how does he get all that kitchen equipment in the tiny kitchen space?

    I think it's barmy!

My friend had one of the original 70's VW Vans - affectionately called the B*tch! It was a real drain on the finances (repairs, spares, kit) but if you can afford it it is well worth it....we had some brilliant weekends away and did lots of festivals (highly recommended over a tent!!!!). Sadly he had to sell it due to the expense, but I am sure someone is enjoying it just as much.

I haven't seen it. I like Campers, but prefer the flexibility of a Caravan, personally.

I saw it and enjoyed it as a bit of light entertainment. However I know what you mean, in terms of how far these sort of modern programmes are very distant from normal life and opportunities. There is a new batch of middle class folk showing us another way to live, but only if you have lots of money in the bank and rich contacts to call on. But as I'm not into all these celeb reality type shows and stuff, then I'm happy to watch these new lifestyle programmes. Actually I saw it yesterday, didn't check to see if it was on all week, so if it was on again tonight, then I missed the 2nd episode.

I've seen worse but why does he have to talk to us as if we had the mentality of a 3 year old?

Another 'celebrity' 'chef' 'growing/foraging' & 'surviving' in the 'wild' ... Mr TS loves it, I find the presenter deeply irritating

Gets on my wick, personally. As previosuly noted, he's a rich bloke pretending to camp out and rough it! If your mate's mum is Lady Summat with a big estate and you spend your summers surfing you're not talking to equals with most of us! My idea of a decent cookery programme is that I will see something that I'll want to cook at home. No chance here! I suppose it comes under that hideous 'Lifestyle' umbrella.

Hee, hee. Yep I didn't expect to see a book Pump up your Penis, looks like he and his wife will have enjoyed researching and writing about it.
