Snap G4! I'd forgotten about that, I have my gran's bowl too which must be older than my wooden spoon, how cool is that? You still see these bowls being used on television programmes and I think they're still being manufactured! I've always used mine for making pastry and for meat and tater pie when the children were at home because it made enough for all of us.

I picked one up from my great aunt's house when we were clearing it out a couple of years ago, washed the mouse droppings out and it's almost as good as new. Goodness knows how old it is and it's too big for day to day cooking but fab for Christmas cakes / puds and the like . Also have the family jam pan which dates back to at least my nan so probably about 60odd years old depending on when she got it. Don't really do leccy things, (apart from the bread maker), on the whole prefer to do stuff by hand.

Oh, my word! It sounds like lots of you are as bad as me for kitchenalia. I have granny's jam pan - some of the original kilner jars as well - and her mason ware mixing bowl. I also have some butter pats which I was so pleased to use after the butter making thread last year!

Mum had a frying pan that she bought for sixpence in Woolworths a week after she and Dad got married. They were married fifty years and that frying pan was used two or three times a week for all that time. Not only did it make the best chips ever, it also produced the best fried onions, bubble and squeak and Yorkshire Pudding.
Strangely, rather like "My Granfathers Clock", when I was clearing out the cupboards after Mum died, I picked it up and the handle parted company from the body. Rest in Peace frying pan.

I bought a large Le Creuset casserole when OH and I set up home together in 1980, it is still used every week and looks like new. I paid �37.50 then ... now it's �135!
