I'm happy to see that the mods are willing to ban people. I've had enough of forums where you get people calling you *$@*&! and the like for simply having a differing opinion.
Mostly, if serial offenders re-register - they usually give themselves away pretty quick as leopards don't change and all that. Most of the regulars get used to certain people's ways of phrasing things, if you see what I mean.
However, if someone re-registers and doesn't cause a fuss; then who is to know?
You're right there Zaz, about getting used to the way people phrase things! It also becomes obvious pretty quickly when they're too opinionated! You're all doing a grand job. It may sound daft, but I always feel safe on here.

It's really nice to know people feel comfortable and safe here!
We don't ban lightly but our general ethos is along the lines of who would we want to have on the sofa in the Vine's front room? That doesn't at all exclude people with differing opinions, alternative lifestyles or strong views. What it does mean though is that anyone rude, judgemental or argumentative for their own amusement probably won't last very long!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."
What is to stop a banned grape registering again under another username and email address?
Vbulletin (the forum software) has a facility that allows admins to ban a member's IP address and their email address.
There is nothing to stop people re-registering from a different pc and with a different email address but my experience of running forums has shown that they will either behave themselves, in which case not really an issue, or they will soon just create drama and get banned again.
As long as there is an admin/mod team who are on the ball it rarely creates too much of a problem for other members.
