Hi guys and gals. Decided to resurrect this post as another banning has conjured up some questions that I was hoping someone could answer for me.

What is to stop a banned grape registering again under another username and email address?

Are bans permanent or just for set length of time?

No reason in particular, just interest. I belong to a rock climbing forum where a few members got banned and then rumours surfaced that some new members that joined were actually them in disguise. Users on that forum were banned for a particular length of time and then welcomed back once they had served their time.
