No but if both kindles were registered to the same account then there is no need for this because items can be present on more than one device, you can transfer via kindle USB and computer. Unfortunately because of DRM issues even if you transferred to another kindle you may not be able to read the content, however there was talk of allowing sharing of content for a set number of days but it was at the discretion of the publisher. Me and the OH both have our kindles registered to the same account so content can be downloaded and read on both devices as required.

I don't have the proper kindle, but have the free version on my ipod, phone and computer. I know this sounds over the top but it's great for me because I need to prepare books to teach them and having them available on so many different devices means, if I'm ever stuck waiting somewhere, at work, in the bath etc. etc, I can access the book I need, make a few notes on it (and highlight) and everything I've done on one device is automatically transfered to the others (very exciting!). I still like the comfort of having the real book for teaching in the classroom though. Is all of this beginning to sound a bit compulsive....

Can you give books to someone else when you've finished reading them (sounds like not)? Aparently you can't lend books. All these are part of my enjoyment of books. The only real advantage I can see is the holiday benefit!

These are very valid points Hilary, I love the act of reading a book (all mine have cracked spines, coz I really 'read' them)...however, I got given The Complete Sherlock Holmes in hardback for Christmas (a bargain at �5), but it is soooo heavy, I actually got tennis elbow trying to read the darn thing This is not a problem with a Kindle, every book weighs the same!

It is also used for transfering content from/to a computer, AFAIK only content from the kindle store at Amazon is delivered wireless to the kindle, for content from other sources you need to save it to a computer and then transfer it to the knidle

Snadger I'm afraid that I am a convert- I love mine too (treated myself) but I do miss reading in the bath (when I enjoy reading the most). I, for some odd reason, miss seeing my progress through the book and some of the text on the conversation is, sometimes, not formatted correctly

What's the difference between the WiFi and 3G version, I'm a novice on 3G so dont understand what it delivers?
