Oh - and go on....I'll be the one to ask
....what have you used to hold the can in place???
( I made my daughter a Teddy cake when she was 2 but I had to hold it's head on with a knitting needle- but it was too long and stuck out of it's head....gawd I bet she has some mental scarring from that!!!

Until milly comes back, it looks like it is held in place with the icing that is pouring out of the can, a bit like the tap water feature that looks like it is floating in mid air but is fastened with clear plastic tubing. I'm wittering now.........Originally posted by Nicos View PostOh - and go on....I'll be the one to ask

correct bigmally! it is held in place with a roll of mexican paste which dries really hard so it supports the can really well, i put a hook shape at the end so the can can't fall down and secured it with a bit of royal icing.
when i make my next cake i will post pics of work in progress. thanks everyone for all your interest and lovely compliments. The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just on the body, but the soul.

I thought you must have had to put a piece of wire or something in the icing to hold the can up, am really impressed now that you've said it's just paste, I'd be terrified of breaking it off! It does look very impressive!
