Why the outrage? So she dumped a cat. Cats get neglected, shot at and dumped everyday somewhere sometime. I really believe this was a set-up to monitor public outcry.
By this outrage are we really telling the world that we are caring people. I think not. Better not to have wheelie bins in the first place.

The fact is Bren that she was seen to do it in a coldhearted way. If the cat hadn't been found the next thing it would've gone in the back of the refuse lorry. This most certainly wasn't a set up and the reason that it went global is that at this time of year (what the newspapers call the silly season) there's not a lot of local news going on and the nationals decided to pick up on what probably would've been just a local story.
The majority of people in the world are caring and have a sense of right and wrong. Yes, lots of animals and humans get neglected , and killed everyday but they usually don't do it near a cctv camera.

I am not making excuses for my comment. In no way could I ever abuse any living creature for my own gratification but what is the message portrayed here. "Never pick up a cat and put it in a wheelie bin because you may be on CTV". The outcry is from folk who would never ever do such a thing anyway and the possibility is that copycats can have a moment of 'glory'. In my opinion wrong doers should be shamed not famed.

Did you SEE the video? she spoke to the cat, made a fuss of it, then looked round, picked it up, and dropped it in the wheelie bin. After that she walked briskly away!
She says she thought it was funny, well she needs to learn that it ISN'T funny to ill-treat someone's pet.
Just because yobs attack animals, and bad owners neglect them, it doesn't make it any the less wicked to do this sort of thing.
BTW I wondered, at one point, about whether it was a set-up, but it seems to really have happened.

The reason the clip was posted was to identify the woman so that she could be 'shamed ' as you put it. The video was then taken off the system , the message here is do not commit an act of cruelty .

                    Recycling is for PUSSIES!!!

p.s. That was meant as a joke, I in no way condone this womans actions, and hope they throw the book at her. Hopefully, that will literally happen.
If somebody did that to my puppy, the CCTV would likely capture a murder.

The book isn't literally thrown: that would be common assault

Sort of funny but totally illustrates my comment on [B]copycats[B]. The woman in questions was being thoughtless and cruel. Copycats are now making it funny.
