Update its a soakaway pipe in a manhole?

Posted yesterday about a pot pipe found in the garden where the raised beds are going. A builder friend said he thought it was a sewage pipe as it was so big. Good news its a soakaway pipe but the unusual thing is its in a square manhole that goes 2 ft down. It is only 5ft away from the large manhole for our house. It's being mentioned it could be a natural spring drain, anyone heard of this. Raised beds going in tomorrow.

It is a way of draining a wet patch my FIL used to make a few when he was putting new land drains in a field and pipe it to a ditch . In the old days they used to plant a sapling at the end of them it made it easier to find when they blocked up ..jacob

Thankyou, the raised tattie bed will be going there, we haven't had a problem ever, it was under the grass with a large old stone flag on top. We will put the flag back on and put our raised bed there. The house is 88 years old and the drain man thinks it was put in when the houses were built. They built stuff to last then. Pipe is fine he is going to flush it though as he thinks it will need it after all this time.
